Product Description Summit Twilight (Two-Disc Special Edition) (Blu-ray) The big-screen adaptation of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer's bestselling vampire romance, is aimed squarely at its key demographic: teen girls whose idea of Prince Charming is a brooding, pale, undead teenwho could kill you instantly at any moment. Such a prince is more fascinating than frightening to new girl Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), who moves tothe rainy-gray town of Forks, Wash., to live withher dad (Billy Burke), the local sheriff who's puzzled by a series of "animal attacks." On her first day at school, Bella appears to (visibly) nauseate her lab partner, Edward (Robert Pattinson). Turns out the scent of her blood is this vampire's "brand of heroin," and his struggle not to kill her causes an irresistible pull toward her. Whether he's attracted for the normal reasons or because shesmells especially sweet to him is vague in the book and even less clear on-screen; nonetheless, Bella falls hopelessly in love with Edward, which sets her on a dangerous path when a few nomad vampires show up in town, one particularly keen on tracking the human. Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen), Twilight is full of funny moments--not allof which are intentional--and the casting, from Stewart to Bella's self-absorbed friend Jessica (Anna Kendrick) is spot-on. The weakest link, unfortunately, is Pattinson. While he certainly looks thepart, his Edward could have used an extra injection of testosterone (Pattinson, who is British, used James Dean as a model for his American accent). In scenes where he growls about the temptation to kill those who would harm Bella, or flitting around a forest warning her how dangerous he is, he comes off more like a whimpering puppy than a debonair monster. The good news is, his chemistry with Stewart (particularly in their big kissing scene) ispalpable, which, let's face it, is really what matters to T

Great Movie August 24, 2010 Blackmaster0711 The first movie isn't the same quality as the second two. However, that is because there was not as big of a budget. But it is a pretty good view of the book. If you love the twilight series you will love this movie.
The book was far better than the film August 13, 2010 Shamontiel L. Vaughn (Chicago) Commentary: I watched it for a half n' hour and once Catherine Hardwicke started talking about how she loved how Rob said "hi" and how much she loves greenhouses, I turned it off. Everything was "funny," according to this lady. Was Taylor Lautner not available? Please don't put somebody this dreadfully boring on another feature. When Kristin wasn't complaining about every single frame and sounding insecure, Hardwicke was getting excited about signs. I'm listening to Kristen talk about how she was mad that there wasn't a scene of her gulping down water. WHO CARES?! I wish they'd have just let Robert do all the commentary and called it a day because he's genuinely funny in interviews.
Now on to the film: The problem with watching a movie after you've read the book is you already know what should happen so when things go a different way, it may not sit right with you. That's what happened several times while watching this movie. I'd never heard of this film up until "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" came out. I saw that movie after reading a Twitter debate about Team Jacob and Team Edward and wondered who in the world these guys were. After loving "Eclipse," I decided to read the first book and then watch the film. Now here's the problem with doing this out of order.
Edward's Lack of Swagger: In "Eclipse," Edward has so much swagger. He's smoother, more romantic, still vulnerable. In "Twilight," he looked like he was starving, nervous and awkward through the entire movie. In the book "Twilight," he was also cool (no pun intended) as a breeze. He was so matter of fact and made a lot of slick jokes in his dialogue, and he laughed a lot. He was charming and was intriguing. In "Eclipse," he was strong in a quiet way. But in the movie "Twilight," he seemed like a freak of nature. I kept waiting for him to jump out of his own skin because he seemed so insecure with himself. Now had I watched this film first before I saw "Eclipse" and read "Twilight" the book, I might've not had such high expectations. The book made him seem like a pale, white version of Terrence Howard or Denzel Washington. The movie made him seem like Edward Scissorhands.
The escape: In the book, there were several things done differently during the escape, mainly Rosalie's role in the situation. In the movie, certain characters were missing from the escape or came in way later. Personally I liked Emmett's amusement at Rosalie and the arguing in the car (in the book). In the movie, Edward was yet again more awkward than he was domineering.
The other vampires: I liked Alice more in the movie than I did in the book. It was easy to visualize that dancing, graceful thing she does. Jasper was equal to a stress reliever ball in the book, but he was weird as hell in the movie. I was more creeped out by him than I was with James. But James in the movie played his role to a tea. I was thoroughly impressed by James as a vampire. I think that actor did the best out of the entire cast at playing the vampire role, although Victoria was a close second.
The other kids: I can't recall what role the cute, black guy played (the one who kissed Bella on the cheek at the beginning and was being completely immature). He was nice eye candy so thumbs up to the casting directors. The rest of the teenagers at high school played their parts well. Bella especially was a standout character, and I liked the actress that they chose to play her. She fit. She was less clumsy than in the book, but she still fit and her hair fit the description in the book.
Jacob: It was plenty weird to see him be such a goofball in the "Twilight" book and movie since I saw "Eclipse," and he was a more suave guy. But the actor played Jacob's role as well as the book described him at that particular time when Bella first met him. I'm assuming he gets cooler as time passes (in the second book and movie).
Special effects: I wasn't into them. Everything in the "Twilight" movie looked incredibly fake, but "Eclipse" had phenomenal special effects. I don't know what happened between then and now, but I'm glad they improved because I rolled my eyes at Edward running and jumping. He might as well have been on puppet strings in this film.
So did I like the movie? It was okay. It left much to be desired outside of the actor who played James. Now THAT guy held my interest. The love between Bella and Edward was more believable in the book than onscreen. In the film, it just looked corny. In the book, I was squealing all over the place. I'm going to continue to catch up on this saga and will read the two or three books I missed and watch "New Moon" the movie. I'm DEFINITELY enjoying watching this story unfold though. The author deserves every bit of credit for a masterpiece idea.
Ed looks even better in Blu-Ray!!!! August 2, 2010 pluckiducki (Georgia, USA) Ok. So I must admit. I am a Twihard. So if that means you don't want to read my review, stop now. Recently received a copy of this movie on Blu-Ray for my birthday. Already had the deluxe edition on regular dvd from tar-get. There was nothing really new on the bonus features from the regular DVD. This is just a must have for fans.
used Movie July 23, 2010 Lu Jones Product as advertised. Very happy with purchase. Great way to save on movies, by purchasing used from Amazon.
Good movie July 4, 2010 Diana I love the Twilight series books, so if I want a quick Twilight fix, I'll watch the movie instead of rereading the book.
